AN EXPERIENCE LIKE NO OTHER

Luxury accommodation in the Hunter Valley is taken to an opulent new level at Boydell’s Camp, an indulgent eco African Safari tent overlooking the historic vineyard and lush grazing paddocks on the pristine Allyn River at Boydell’s Vineyard.

Exclusive to just one booking at a time, it’s a couple’s experience of a lifetime, with guests free to enjoy the isolation of the gorgeous 200-acre property wandering through the vines, glass in hand, soaking up the incredible view and breathing the crisp country air.

And the luxe accommodation exceeds expectations. The expansive Safari tent brings together the best of both worlds – utter luxury (and all the indulgences) with the earthy simplicity of an eco-lifestyle. Think African safari complete with the finest linens, indulgent bath products, the freshest local produce, incredible wines and all the pleasure of escaping to the simple life for a night or two.

The tent was imported from Africa and has been completely decorated for the ultimate luxury getaway, with an impossibly deep freestanding copper bath, wide timber flooring, mosquito nets, stone sink, sumptuous king-size bed and a location like no other.

Located in East Gresford in the Hunter Valley, Boydell’s has been owned and operated by Daniel and Jane Maroulis since 2015. The picturesque vineyard on the Allyn River is named after Charles Boydell, who settled the property in 1826 and planted some of the first vines seen in the Hunter.

Jane said the concept behind the luxe accommodation was a combination of her yearning to explore Africa and her dream of giving guests the opportunity to enjoy the unique experience of staying in the incredible location.

‘The view from the site is incredible – stretching out over the vineyards and beyond,’ Jane said.

‘Guests can ditch their devices, sit on the verandah watching kangaroos grazing, enjoy paddle boarding on the beautiful river and just indulge in the peace and quiet. We wanted to give our visitors a unique experience unlike anything else available in the Hunter Valley and that’s what we’ve done.

‘Travelling to Africa is definitely on my bucket list but I haven’t been lucky enough yet to get there yet! The accommodation is a genuine safari tent we imported from Africa and I got a lot of inspiration from different sources for the fit out. We had a lot of fun with this project and love seeing our guests’ reactions when they first arrive.

‘The concept started out with a smaller Safari tent and we kept building on it until we came up with the final design. It is bigger and grander than we first envisioned, but we are so happy with the final product!’

Accommodation packages include a gourmet barbecue dinner with Boydell wine pairing, delicious locally sourced continental breakfast, a private farm tour and wine tasting. Additional treats such as a private massage, private chef and picnic lunch hampers are also available.
