Boydell’s stunning cellar door and restaurant is now officially open! It is the first in historic Morpeth, with the picturesque building reflecting the rich history of the vines and the link with Charles Boydell.

‘Charles wrote in his journals about catching a paddle steamer regularly from Paterson to Morpeth or travelling there by horse and cart,’ Daniel says. ‘This authenticity is important to us.’

Boydell’s cellar door is open Wednesday through to Sunday and offers wine sales and tastings which can be paired with local cheese platters.

The restaurant, led by head chef Sheldon Black, is open from lunch on Friday through to Sunday dinner, offering a contemporary seasonal menu focused on locally sourced produce.

‘We’ll change the menu regularly, keeping Boydell’s wines in mind to create a wonderfully harmonious experience,’ Sheldon says.

‘We are taking bookings for functions and groups as well as those who just wander up Green Street and discover us. The courtyard is the perfect spot for springtime dining and drinks and the large fireplace inside will make it nice and cosy over winter. We have had a lot of interest from people having pre wedding dinners and post wedding recoveries which will be lots of fun.’
